Inclusive Airport Access

Accessibility statement

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. This statement explains how accessible this website is, what we are doing to improve it, and how you can report problems.

About this website

Inclusive Airport Access provides independent, non-profit information about accessibility, facilities, and support services at 28 major UK airports. It is designed for disabled people, neurodivergent people, people with chronic health conditions, families, carers, and support workers.

This website is operated as a free public resource with no commercial activity, advertising, or sponsorship. While we are not a public sector body and are therefore not legally required to comply with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018, we voluntarily commit to meeting those standards because our audience includes many people who rely on assistive technology.

Conformance status

This website aims to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. We are partially conformant, meaning some parts of the content may not yet fully conform to all WCAG 2.2 AA success criteria. We are actively working to identify and resolve any gaps.

How accessible this website is

You should be able to:

  • Navigate the entire website using a keyboard alone
  • Navigate the website using speech recognition software
  • Use a screen reader (including JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver) to read and understand the structure and content
  • Zoom in up to 200% without text being cut off or overlapping
  • Use the on-page accessibility widget (bottom-right corner) to:
    • Increase or decrease text size
    • Enable high contrast mode
    • Reduce or pause motion and animations
    • Adjust line spacing and letter spacing
  • Read all content in plain, clear language

This website is designed to be compatible with:

  • Screen readers: JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver (macOS and iOS), TalkBack (Android)
  • Screen magnification software

The website has been tested on the following browsers and devices:

  • Mozilla Firefox (desktop)
  • Microsoft Edge (desktop)

The website may not work as expected with older browsers or assistive technologies that do not support current web standards.

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, some areas may not yet be fully accessible:

  • Some images may not have fully descriptive alt text. We are reviewing and improving these on an ongoing basis.
  • Some interactive elements (such as the accessibility widget) may not be fully operable with all assistive technologies. We are testing and improving compatibility.
  • PDF or external resources linked from this site may not meet accessibility standards, as they are maintained by third parties.
  • Colour contrast on some decorative or non-essential elements may not meet the 4.5:1 ratio in all cases. We are auditing and correcting these.

If you encounter a barrier not listed here, please let us know so we can address it.

Reporting accessibility problems

We are always looking to improve the accessibility of this website. If you find any problems not listed on this page, or you think we are not meeting accessibility requirements, please let us know using the contact methods above.

When reporting a problem, please include as much detail as possible, including the page URL, the issue you experienced, and the assistive technology or browser you were using (if applicable). This helps us investigate and fix the problem more quickly.

Enforcement procedure

If you are not satisfied with our response to your accessibility concern, you can contact the Equality Advisory Support Service (EASS) for further advice and support:

The EASS can advise you on your rights under the Equality Act 2010, which requires all organisations to make reasonable adjustments to ensure disabled people are not put at a disadvantage when accessing services, including websites.

Technical information about this website's accessibility

This website is built using semantic HTML with structured headings, landmark regions, and ARIA attributes where appropriate. We use responsive design to ensure the site works across devices and screen sizes. All pages include descriptive page titles, skip navigation links, and logical reading order.

We aim to conform with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Where we are aware of non-conformances, these are listed in the "Known limitations" section above.

What we are doing to improve accessibility

  • Regularly reviewing and improving colour contrast and focus visibility across all pages
  • Ensuring consistent heading structure and page landmarks across all pages
  • Adding and improving descriptive alt text for all meaningful images
  • Testing with keyboard navigation, screen readers, and other assistive technologies
  • Reviewing all content for plain language and readability
  • Seeking feedback from disabled people and accessibility professionals
  • Conducting a full accessibility audit at least once per year
